The Hudson Hurricanes participated in the General Clinton Canoe Regatta Scout Races for the 45th time this past Memorial Day weekend! After months of hard work, they left it all on the river, competing with scouts from all over the east coast (including the Catskill Mountain Canoers also in GSHH Council). They had 7 girls participate in two different races - the 6-person relay (which they did with 5 people) and the 5 mile sprint (division II). They came home with trophies for 2nd place in the relay and 4th place in the sprint!
Keep an eye out for the Hudson Hurricanes’ fall events; Learn to Canoe Day is set for September 14, where troops can spend an hour block learning basic canoeing skills and paddling on Lake Bullowa at Camp Addisone Boyce. For girls who want to continue developing their canoe skills, “Taste of Canoeing” is a series of Sundays in late September and early October where participants will practice skills and techniques to build confidence in paddling. The team's season starts in March.
The Hudson Hurricanes are a competitive girls canoe racing team for girls ages 11-18. They practice at Camp Addisone Boyce from March to May. They hope to see you on the water soon!
