On Sunday, July 9, 2023, the Hudson Valley experienced sustained torrential rainfalls, totaling 8" in some areas in only a few hours. This rainfall led to catastrophic flooding in areas, particularly in Rockland and Orange Counties. Specifically, the area around Camp Addisone Boyce in Tomkins Cove was heavily impacted, as was the camp property itself.
This page will be updated as we receive more information and have further updates to share.
As a result, camp sessions at CAB were canceled for the week of 7/10-7/14, and council staff is currently working to assess the condition of the property and get repairs started as soon as possible to welcome girls back to camp.
Updates to Camp Addisone Boyce Families:
Campers for Week 2 at Rock Hill Camp arrived during the storm on Sunday afternoon, and were kept safe and sound by camp staff and even got to have a camp-wide sleepover in the dining hall!
There is some damage to roads around the camp, which we are working to repair for the safety of all on property. The main casualty at Rock Hill is the waterfront docks, which were washed away and will need to be replaced. GSHH is working on getting this replaced as soon as possible.
