"Operation Cookie Drop 2025 - Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson gathered at Edith Macy Conference Center on Saturday, June 14th, for a morning of service for our military and veterans! Hundreds of cases of donated cookies were packed and stacked in the cookie storage unit, and patriotic projects for veterans were waiting for the Scouts to do all around Williams Hall! Fifteen tables full of projects, most run by Girl Scouts working toward Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards focused on our military or veterans, were soon filled with busy Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador - over 85 Scouts showed up to help out! Patriotic rocks were painted, flag ornaments were made, flag pins, and I heart USA and GS were made and quickly attached to vests and sashes, gift bags for paralyzed veterans who receive care at the Bronx VA were filled with many of the projects being made at the tables, poppy cards, and cards for Gold Star mothers were made, and first aid kits for homeless veterans were packed up. The Scouts also had the opportunity to put pins in our world map for all the countries our cookies have made it to, ships, VA hospitals, and USO centers around the world! Wonderful morning, spent together, making new friends, meeting old ones - including a Vietnam veteran who went back into the military after 9/11 and received our Operation Cookie Drop cookies while in Kuwait in 2006- 2009! Welcome Home Tony Suozzi, former sailor, former Girl Scout Board member, and now friend to all our Scouts! Thanks to all our scouts from all over our Council, who came from Orange, Rockland, Duchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties, to work together to help thank our military and veterans for their service! So proud of all our Girl Scouts who stepped up to help out at this annual GSHH event!" - Operation Cookie Drop founder and organizer Alison Bergman
