Bear Mountain State Park is situated in rugged mountains rising from the west bank of the Hudson River. The park features a large play field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, a swimming pool, Trailside Museums and Zoo, hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails. An outdoor rink is open to ice skaters from late October through mid-March. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. Perkins Memorial Drive and Tower are open from April through late November, weather permitting.

The Merry-Go-Round at Bear Mountain State Park features hand painted scenes of the park an 42 hand carved seats of native animals including black bear, wild turkey, deer, raccoon, skunk, Canada goose, fox, swan, bobcat, rabbit and more. To Help Create A Super Celebration Flight, Please Keep In Mind the Following Information:

For your convenience, we have a large activity room for your use during the duration of the party as well as a refrigerator for a celebration cake or any other items that require refrigeration.
You may arrange to have pizza delivered to the Center or continue your celebration at a local eatery.
We request that you have your guests arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled flight time. Food and drink must be contained to our activity room. Please allow a maximum of 30 minutes for pizza and/or cake.
Due to the capacity of our simulators, we ask that chaperones be limited to 8, unless participating guests have special needs and prior arrangements have been made.

In 2022, Nyack joined the roster of world-class arts events with Phoenix Festival: Live Arts in Nyack, an annual celebration of classical theater, music, local culture, and the creative spirit of community. Over its five inaugural weekends in September and October 2022, the Festival presented both live and outdoor performances against the majestic vistas of the Hudson River and the lively, jazzy riverside village of Nyack. In 2023, the critically-acclaimed Festival expanded its programming to include four indoor and outdoor productions, partnerships with Children’s Shakespeare Company and Emotions Physical Theatre, and special events all over downtown Nyack. The 2024 Festival will offer joy to audiences of all ages, and bring new visitors and revenue to Rockland and its local businesses and workers. The Festival also offers a spotlight for local Nyack nonprofits, along with opportunities for students and volunteers to get up-close and hands-on with live performance.

Under the dynamic leadership of founding Artistic Director Joe Brancato and executive director Andrew M. Horn, Penguin Rep Theatre has grown in 44 years from a summer theatre in a converted 1880's hay barn to become one of the Hudson Valley's most influential nonprofit cultural institutions.

Since its founding in 1977 by Brancato and Fran Newman-McCarthy, Penguin Rep has entertained more than 400,000 people with outstanding productions of 150 plays. And not just any plays either, but new works by established and emerging writers.

Plays that move from Stony Point, New York across the country and around the world, from the stage to TV and film.

Angelo Parra's "The Devil's Music: The Life & Blues of Bessie Smith", nominated for Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Audelco and Off Bway Alliance Awards, began life at Penguin and, after a lengthy run Off Broadway, moved to the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival, the Cincinnati Playhouse, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise.

The Broadway musical and Academy Award-winning film "Finding Neverland" originated as a play commissioned and premiered by Penguin.

The New York Times dubbed Penguin "the gutsiest little theatre": "Guided by the skilled hand of Penguin's artistic director, Joe Brancato, the splendid performers get first-rate support, as always at Penguin, by an excellent design team."

TevaLand Sanctuary Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit farm animal sanctuary located in the historic Ramapo Mountains in Rockland County, New York.

TevaLand began as a small sustainable homestead on a woodland property. Every fence and many structures on the farm were constructed by animal advocates on a privately funded “shoestring” budget, primarily using recycled and salvaged materials. This passion and dedication served to transform an idyllic mountaintop location into a safe haven for abused, neglected, or abandoned farm animals.

Today, TevaLand offers a variety of educational programs which encourage participants to both heal and be nurtured by nature via a mutually beneficial, hands-on, therapeutic process.

People within special needs communities, schools, colleges, and all walks of life have the opportunity to take an active part in the rehabilitation of rescued animals. By helping Tevaland’s animals achieve calm and balance, people discover their own capacity for love, kindness, compassion, and inner-peace.
