How Can I Support Girl Scouting?

There are a variety of ways to give that will help sustain the Girl Scout Movement in the next century. We encourage you to support our mission of building girls “of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”  Please consider the following options and plan now to help ensure that Girl Scouting will still be alive and thriving for years to come.

Annual Giving
An Annual Giving gift is repeatable, sustainable, and, ideally, provides support we hope we can count on each year.  It is a measure of the investment and confidence that our member families have in the work that we are doing. Beyond our immediate families, it’s also a way for friends, community partners, and businesses to provide financial support toward the council’s operating expenses. As part of an ongoing effort throughout the membership year, we ask all Girl Scout families to support Annual Giving. Matching Gifts
Many corporations have matching gift programs for their employees. In most cases, contributions are matched dollar-for-dollar by the employer. Please remember this valuable component in your Annual Giving plans by asking your human resources department for our company’s procedure and completing the appropriate forms to process your matching gift. Most companies have convenient on-line options. Matching gift guidelines are often time-sensitive, so please don't delay any processing or notification procedures. Grants and Foundations
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. relies on the philanthropic contributions of corporations and private foundations as well as support from public entities. This much-needed support allows us to provide programming in all areas of our council. We apply for appropriate funding opportunities throughout the year as we become aware of them. If you know of specific grants for which the Girl Scouts may qualify, please bring them to our attention by emailing annualgiving@girlscoutshh.org. In-Kind Contributions
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson seeks contributions of goods or services that can benefit council and the girls we serve. Receiving donations of goods or services may provide budget relief that can free up already assigned funding which may then be used to provide programming for more girls. Girl Sponsorships
You can make a significant difference in the life of a girl by becoming a Girl Scout sponsor. Consider a gift of $210.00 or more to sponsor a girl who cannot afford her Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting, pins and uniform. Help a girl develop character, self-esteem, decision-making skills and commitment to service by enabling her to experience Girl Scouting. Camperships
Some girls would never be able to go to camp without financial support. Our alumnae report that camping adventures are the most-remembered experiences of their days as a young Girl Scout. A gift of $350 will make camp possible for a girl – providing life-long memories of the adventure, fun, friendship and learning to be found in an outdoor setting. Corporate Funding
Good corporate citizenship benefits the community as well as the company. Many corporations have set aside funds for community support. Whether it’s a matching gift, sponsorship of a project, employee volunteer recognition or a corporate donation, it all makes a difference. Planned Giving
Please remember GSHH in your financial planning and your will. Planned gifts are those made through a definite plan for future giving. Tax-deductible contributions can be made through a bequest or beneficiary designation. They may be gifts of life insurance, or bequests in your will, or trusts where the council is the beneficiary of the gift. Click here for additional information on Planned Giving.

Investment Gifts

GSHH welcomes gifts of stock or other investment vehicles. Transfers of stock and investments can be easily arranged through our Fund Development Department. Contact us for more information.
