As a Girl Scout adult, you can help girls Discover, Connect, and Take Action through girl-driven activities, learning by doing, and cooperative learning. Help them explore self-awareness and healthy living within this context and by taking part in the 2007 QSP campaign.
This fall’s magazine subscription campaign, along with the sale of nut and candy products, emphasizes the overall theme of TREASURE YOUR HEALTH. Girls achieving the appropriate level in the QSP aspect of the campaign will receive a Treasure Your Mind seal patch while those achieving a similar level in the nut/candy part will receive a Treasure Your Health dolphin patch. Together, the two patches form a circle, emphasizing that mind and body wellness are equally important.
Treasure your mind and your health through QSP’s 16th annual Be a Reader program which features healthy living activities and information. The Be a Reader booklet offers fun and exciting activities to help girls explore and develop self-esteem by focusing on how their minds, emotions and bodies combine to make them who they are.
Girls will find information related to self-awareness and healthy living in Girl Scout resources, as well as online. It’s also good to involve knowledgeable people from your community, so that girls can learn from and work with experts in these areas.
The annual QSP program includes not only new and renewed magazine subscriptions, but also offers a variety of books, videos, software, cassettes, and CDs in conjunction with QSP’s parent company, The Reader’s Digest.
The average American family spends over $151 annually on magazines, with about 98% of that amount leaving the community. Why not renew your subscriptions through the Girl Scouts and keep 40% of that money in our area benefiting your local council and troops?
New for 2007 is eQSP which is simple and works just like our regular magazine program except that it’s paperless! Think of it as eStep 1 and eStep 2. Log on to eQSP to learn more about this exciting new program.
Before participating in eQSP, a parent/guardian will be asked to register herself and her daughter(s) to participate in the interactive program activity focused on Netiquette (email etiquette). Each girl must complete this activity before she can participate in the money-earning activity. When this program activity is completed, eQSP’s eStep 1 allows for secure, online ordering of magazines by immediate family members. These orders will be tabulated and will count towards girl recognitions and troop proceeds of $2 per order.
The program’s eStep 2 involves providing email addresses of 12 or more friends and family who will likely support Girl Scouts through the purchase of a magazine. For each 12 email addresses, troops will earn $3 and girls will earn a special Netiquette patch. Parents must print proof of participation for both eStep 1 and eStep 2 and return to the Troop Fall Sale Manager.
Products will be delivered to communities December 5 – 8, just in time for holiday gift giving! What a sweet way to let family, friends, teachers, the postman, and the person who shovels your sidewalk know that you’re thinking of them!
Limited to family, next-door neighbors, and family friends, the QSP/Nut campaign does NOT involve door-to-door selling. Part of the cost of each nut product, subscription order or renewal, or other purchased item is paid to the troop while an additional percentage goes to support Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson as a whole, so remember S-O-S – Save One Subscription for the Girl Scouts!
