Teams Opportunities

Do your girls have specialized interests? Our many teams, ranging from robotics to canoeing and beyond, offer a specialized Pathway for girls who want to focus on one activity as part of an organized team with girls from many troops.

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson is represented by three robotics teams of varying ages.

Girls and mentors of all ages are welcome to join!

1) The Techo Girls is for Middle School age girls, they practice in our Pleasantville office.

2) The Techno Chix is forHigh School Girls. The team practices in our Pleasantville office.

3) Techno Chicklets team is for the youngest girls in our Pleasantville office and has girls in kindergarten through 3rd grade.

All teams are open to all Girl Scouts, even those who are not part of a troop! Girls who are not yet registered, but interested in the robotics program,  are also encouraged to come out and join the team.  If you’re looking for more information, please email

The Dotted Half Notes are a choir made up of Girl Scouts of all ages. This highly successful girls’ chorus is dedicated to brightening the world with the beauty of the human voice.

What began as a Gold Award project about five years ago, has since turned into a very successful singing group. In 2011, the 25-member chorus took first place with an “Excellent” rating at the Six Flags Music in the Park Festival in Agawam, MA.

The group practices once a month on Sunday afternoons from 3–5 p.m. at Rock Hill Camp in Mahopac.  They perform at a number of holiday celebrations, GSHH events, and nursing homes throughout the year. This fall, they were among the performers at the October 15 event launching our year-long celebration of Girl Scouting’s 100th Anniversary.

They are always welcoming new members, so if singing is something you’re passionate about, or a new activity you’ve always wanted to try, the Dotted Half Notes are waiting for you.  You must be a registered Girl Scout to participate, and you can easily join now !

For more information, contact Mary Peters at

The Kamikaze Kanoers are a Girl Scout canoe racing team that practices and competes annually in April and May.  They have represented area Girl Scouts in the Governor Clinton Canoe Regatta for over 25 years. They are comprised of 7th through 12th grade girls who want to learn the fundamentals of canoeing and look forward to competing on the water.

Their next season will start in March 2013, so check back for the relevant dates, times and program fees.

Girls don’t need to be a Girl Scout to join, but they must become a Girl Scout member and join Troop 40096 to participate.   The uniform is a white hooded zippered sweatshirt, T-shirt, red shorts and long pants. Other costs include the river training trip weekend in May and minimal camping and meal fees for the race weekend.

The training concludes after the race with the American Red Cross Canoe Certification class called Fundamentals of Canoeing (FOC).
