Description:The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is pleased to announce Knightwatch Medieval, a new series of imaginative overnight experiences designed for families and groups with children ages 6 to 12. Knightwatch Medieval offers a unique blend of education, fun and fantasy under the roof of the world’s largest Gothic cathedral. The sleepover experience transports guests back in time to the age of medieval storybook kings, princesses and knights. Within the walls of the candle lit Cathedral participants engage in an interactive play and scavenger hunt led by a lovable court jester. Children search for clues to assist a princess under a spell by a magician, help a pair of star crossed lovers find happiness and support an over achieving knight in his attempt to get out of an unwanted betrothal. After the play and scavenger hunt, guests celebrate with medieval dancing and singing. Keeping with the medieval theme, participants learn period dancing and do theme-based art projects including creating clay gargoyles and making brass rubbings. At the close of the evening a resident storyteller lulls participants to sleep under the protective arches of the Nave. All Knightwatch Medieval activities are led by Cathedral staff dedicated to keeping the activities fun, educational and safe. Please note: one adult must attend for every 3 children participating.
