Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Anna Maria Chávez is proud to stand strong with Girl Scouts across the country in a new video where she sets the record straight on recent misconceptions about the organization.

The video is in response to various political organizations and activists who intend to boycott Girl Scout Cookies this year based on false information about the Girl Scout Movement. For over 100 years, Girl Scouts has been and continues to be a nonpolitical organization committed to all girls, regardless of their personal backgrounds.

"Here is the bottom line: at Girl Scouts, we stand for girls," says Chávez. "Our mission is to help today's girls develop the skills they need to become tomorrow's leaders. We stand for giving girls the opportunity to develop into strong, confident, courageous adults who are committed to making the world a better place."

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the world's largest girl-led business. Through the program, girls learn five essential life skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. All of the revenue from cookie activities—every penny after paying the baker—stays with the Girl Scout council. Girl Scouts selling Girl Scout Cookies may decide to donate troop proceeds to a local animal hospital or use their hard-earned money to help fund a back-to-nature wilderness adventure. Whatever the specific goals and outcomes, selling cookies does great things for girls and for their communities.
