Girl Scouts, YWCA Announce Chairs for Tribute to Women of Achievement

[ Back to Articles ]

November 19, 2012

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, with YWCA Orange County, has announced the first-ever mother/daughter co-chairs for the 2013 Tribute to Women of Achievement of Orange County event. Past Tribute honorees Dr. Michele Winchester-Vega and daughter Natasha Vega will co-chair the 21st annual recognition event.
Dr. Winchester-Vega, a resident of Newburgh, was the 2011 recipient of the Bobbie A. Lahey Memorial Award for Volunteer Services. Natasha Vega, a recent graduate of Poughkeepsie Day School and a freshman at Penn State, was named the 2012 Woman of the Future.

"The annual Tribute to Women event is important for recognizing the accomplishments of some of the many successful women in Orange County," said Dr. Winchester-Vega. "Natasha and I are delighted to be the first mother/daughter team to chair the event. The Tribute to Women is one of Orange County's longest-running recognition events and the only one solely for women. We hope to bring a unique perspective that will focus new energy and attention to the Tribute in its third decade," continued Winchester-Vega.

The Tribute awards honor women in Orange County who have made a difference to the community in their professional, personal, or school-based activities. The nomination categories include arts, business, communications, health care and human services, public service, education, “woman of the future,” and the Bobbie A. Lahey Memorial Award for Volunteer Services.
Nominations for the 2013 Tribute awards are now being accepted. The form is available on the Girl Scout Heart of the Hudson website or by calling (845) 236-6002, ext 223. The deadline for nomination submissions is December 19.

The 2013 honorees will be recognized at the Annual Tribute to Women of Achievement Dinner to be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Anthony's Pier 9.
