DOTTED HALF-NOTES
The Dotted Half Notes are a choir made up of Girl Scouts of all ages. This highly successful girls’ chorus is dedicated to brightening the world with the beauty of the human voice. What began as a Gold Award project, has since turned into a very successful singing group. The group has earned many accolades and awards at various singing competitions throughout the tri-state area.

The group practices once a month on Sunday afternoons from 3–5 p.m. at Rock Hill Camp in Mahopac.  They perform at a number of holiday celebrations, GSHH events, and nursing homes throughout the year.

KAMIKAZE KANOERS
The Kamikaze Kanoers are a competitive Girl Scout canoe racing team.  For over 38 years they have raced in the Governor Clinton Canoe Regatta held on Memorial Day weekend in Bainbridge, NY.  Girls on the team will learn canoeing skills and create friendships that last a lifetime.  Whether you love to canoe, or have never touched a paddle, we would love to teach you to canoe and to race.

Practices are held at Camp Addisone Boyce in Tomkins Cove, NY (Rockland County) and are generally held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4pm-6:30pm from late March through race weekend.  An informational meeting will be held prior to the first practice.  To race, girls must be between 11 and 18 years old on race day.  Prior GS membership is not required, but all members will become members of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson.

For information and /or registration please contact Patty Zollinger at plzollinger@gmail.com or 845-639-5043 or Jeannie Raumberger at jraumberger@aol.com.  You can also visit the team webpage at www.kamikazekanoers.org

CATSKILL MOUNTAIN CANOERS

Catskill Mountain Canoers is a Girl Scout canoe racing team.  We practice 3 times a week for the 6 weeks before Memorial Day for the Governor Clinton Canoe Regatta that takes place in Bainbridge, NY over Memorial Day weekend. There are six different Girl Scout Canoe races, depending on the ages of the paddlers.

  • For the older girls there is a 15 mile endurance race, a 6 person relay race, and a 4 mile sprint race.
  •  For the younger girls (11 – 15), there is a 10 mile intermediate race, a 4 person canoe relay race and a 4 mile sprint.

The team is open to Girl Scouts aged 11 – 18.  If there is interest please contact Nancy Forsythe at nforsythe@hvc.rr.com

The team has an apple pie sale during November each year, and this helps defray a lot of the costs involved. Prior GS membership not required, but all members are expected to become members of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson.
