GSUSA has given permission to Girl Scouts to use the internet to market products they sell through Girl Scout approved vendors (like Little Brownie Bakers), following Safety-Wise guidelines and standards and the following requirements. Girl Scouts 13 and older can use social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to market products, as long as they have a parent/guardian’s permission, are under supervision and follow Safety-Wise standards. Girl Scouts 13 and older can use YouTube for marketing, but must have parental permission and council approval of what is to be posted.
This year, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson is introducing this opportunity to Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors aged 13 and older. This should not replace the customary methods of marketing – personal order-taking and booth sales. It is meant as an additional method of marketing to help you reach your personal and troop goals.
If you are interested in utilizing the internet to market your cookie sale, please show this to your parent/guardian, discuss the opportunity with your parent/guardian, and then read the Internet Safety Pledge with your parent/guardian. To participate, complete and submit the Internet Safety Pledge and submit to council in the manner stated on the form. You will receive an email confirmation that GSHH has received and approved your participation. You should not begin your internet marketing until you have received this confirmation.
