Improv and Movement Girl Scout Juniors

Snowshoe Hike Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes & Seniors
Date: February 6, 2010, Session 1: 10:00a - 12:00p; Session 2: 1:00p - 3:00p Location: Camp Ludington Description: Challenge yourself to a snowshoe hike around camp while enjoying the fresh crisp air and looking for animal tracks in the snow. Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and boots. Bring extra socks and gloves. A toasty fire and hot chocolate will be provided. Winter Whirl I: Intro to Winter Survival Skills Girl Scout Juniors
Date: Sunday February 14 2010, 9:00a - 4:00p Location: Camp Addisone Boyce Description: The Winter Whirl I program is designed to introduce younger Girl Scout Juniors to basic winter survival skills. Winter Whirl I is a two-session event. The first session will be an indoor preparation and safety skills workshop followed by a day-long outdoor event at Camp Addisone Boyce. Volunteers skilled in the outdoors will lead workshops in fire building, dressing for the winter, emergency preparedness, and winter hiking.
Please see full description of the equipment needed for the Winter Whirl I (camp day) here before registering. Specialized winter clothing that must be worn (by both adults and girls) the day of the event will be listed on the website. Anyone attending the event without the proper clothing or equipment will be turned away for safety purposes. Cost: $25 per girl Maximum: 50 Please Note: Winter Whirl I is a troop or by individual girls accompanied by an adult. Scene and Heard Girl Scout Juniors
Date: 3/9/2010, 5:45p - 6:45p Location: Rockland County/TBA (Rockland) Description: The girls will work on different elements of speech and breath control as they pertain to theater and public speaking. They will apply what they learn to small group scene work and in staging a mini-play under the direction of an instructor. This program helps girls complete three of the requirements towards their Theater badge. Above all, the girls will have fun! Feel free to bring an age-appropriate non-Girl Scout friend or sibling to take the class with you. This workshop may be taken alone, but if taken in conjunction with the Improv and Movement workshop, will complete the requirements for the Theater badge. If troops or girls choose to register for both classes, the badge will be provided. Please make the instructor aware at the 1st workshop you attend when you will be attending the 2nd and the badge will be presented at the girl's 2nd workshop. Girl Scout Brownies will complete requirements 2 and 3 for their Making Music Try-It. Girl Scout Juniors will learn songs they can teach to younger girls for leadership or service hours. Troops may bring a snack and beverage to enjoy after the singing. Roasting marshmallows will not be allowed. All girls will receive a Campfire patch. With Dez you will start to weave the web that will bind together a Journey that will help you discover the power individuals who choose to work together can have to make changes inside and out. This workshop will include fun activities designed to help each girl discover her own powers and give both the girls and their leaders valuable tools to help them complete their Journeys. Girls are welcome to come dressed as a fashionista in honor of Dez or to wear their Girl Scout uniform to represent the powers and values of Girl Scouting. Cruise to Cadettes Girl Scout Juniors (grade 5)
Date: 4/18/2010, 1:00p - 4:00p Location: Monroe Woodbury Middle School (Orange) Description: Cruise to Cadettes is for Girl Scout Juniors who are bridging to Girl Scout Cadettes. Girls will rotate through a series of workshops that will introduce them to Cadette Girl Scouting while their leaders attend a leader training. The workshops are fun and informative and will get the girls excited about moving on up to the next level in Girl Scouts. Most of the workshops will be facilitated by Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Troops registered for this event will receive details regarding what to bring, what bridging steps will be completed and what steps are left for the troop/girl to complete.
