Am I an Alumna?
Yes, if you are one of the 50 million women who was a member of the Girl Scouts as a child or young woman (from Daisies and Brownies through Seniors and Ambassadors) or who served in any capacity as a registered Girl Scout volunteer or staff member, then you are part of the long green line of Girl Scout alumnae stretching back to those 18 girls who first met with Juliette Gordon Low on March 12, 1912.
Research has shown that America's most accomplished women in public service, business, science, education, the arts and community life are Girl Scout alumnae. At any given point in time, approximately 10% of the girls in the United States are Girl Scouts.
- Eighty percent of women business owners were Girl Scouts.
- Sixty-nine percent of female U.S. senators were Girl Scouts.
- Sixty-seven percent of female members of the House of Representatives were Girl Scouts.
- Virtually every female astronaut who has flown in space was a Girl Scout.
Did you earn Curved Bar? Go camping at Rock Hill? Attend one or more of the four Roundups? Go on a Wider Opportunity to Our Chalet? Girl Scout memories are as diverse as the women who treasure them.
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson would like to hear from you if you are a Girl Scout alumna. We’d love to hear from you.
