Enhancement Courses
These courses are available to enrich your skills as an adult volunteer. Join other volunteers in the various learning opportunities and enhance your program delivery to girls.
Note: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to a course or must leave early, credit for that course may not be given.
Community Camping On-Site Coordinator
This course is for the volunteer who is in charge of organizing and planning to be on-site during Girl Scout community camping events on Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson properties. It is recommended that two volunteers from the community take this course in the event that one may not be able to attend on the date that the Girl Scout community camping is scheduled.
This course is Self Study. At the completion of reading all materials an agreement statement must be signed and returned to get credit for the course.
Prerequisite: Leadership Essentials, Overnight Indoor Training (OIT) and Overnight Outdoor Training (OOT) |

Fire Building
Learn the Girl Scout way to build a safe fire. You will learn the dos and donts of campfires, including how to make fire starters. Once you successfully build a fire, reward yourself with some yummy treats! This workshop will give you the credit needed to be able to build a fire on your Overnight Outdoor trip. Note: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for a course or must leave early, credit for that course may not be given. |

Self-Study Courses
Self-study courses are available to meet the needs of busy adults who want to make the time to volunteer but the calendar of scheduled learning opportunities does not meet their needs. For a minimal fee, you can order a course and we will mail it to you.
Each self-study course is based on the class curriculum and a quiz must be completed and returned to the regional office for course credit. You will receive approval from the volunteer development department to begin meeting with your troop or group.
To order your copy of a specific course, simply use the Adult Learning Registration Form or, for your convenience, visit the councils website homepage where you can access the Online Registration for Events and Adult Learning- E Council registration. Follow the simple steps and go to January 1, 2010 on the calendar. The self-study course will appear on that date. If you find that you need further assistance, please contact the volunteer development department at any of our four regional offices for details.
Leadership Essentials Self-Study - $10 fee; manual and quiz will be mailed to your home for self-paced study. Quiz must be completed and returned for course credit. | |
